Timor – A Buffalo Bone Carved Incense Holder

A traditional, ceremonial, beautifully designed and carved incense holder carved from buffalo horn.

The sitting-squatting figure in the centre is a traditional style with a small bowl  protruding outwards  for the incense to be poured. Behind the small, ancestral  figure is a  long sphere which has a beautifully carved, cut out design and represents high status  reverence. From the shoulders of the small figure are two wonderful wings, (which are detachable) which ceremonial  have been carved out to make the design. At the wings tips are heads of birds, signifying heavenly spirits,
