A superb, intricately carved buffalo horn figurine from West Timor depicting a crowned ancestral figure of outstanding quality.
The figure which is in a sitting-squatting position is carved from a solid horn, rather than a hollow horn with the ancestral figure wearing a three, long pronged crown head decoration. Each of the fine long strands from the crown has been intricately carved on the sides with an traditional cultural design. Around the base of the crown on the figurine are a string of fine beads for decoration. Further down the figure's back are two additional long, protruding strands of horn which aligning with the protruding crown strands to give definition of high status to this figure. The delicate carved design all around the base is below the squatting figurine .
